A former newspaper publisher and editor of The Mining Record, the oldest newspaper in Colorado, she received acclaim for revitalizing the newspaper with groundbreaking
stories and brought
the newspaper to international attention. She is currently the editor of the Journal for the Foundation for Gaian Studies. As a political activist she worked as a lobbyist for  the Equal Rights Amendment, migrant worker rights and low-income housing. Her public education papers on the mass  transportation and low-income housing influenced popular opinion and new legislation was passed in spite of the Nixon freeze on public spending. She spent many of her later years as a psychotherapist working for nearly two decades with
those diagnosed with borderline personality disorder or schizophrenia, later apprenticing with Sun Bear, the  Ojibway holy man  who founded The Bear Tribe Medicine Society. For the past two decades Trishuwa has been teaching Earth ceremony and relationship. Many communities throughout North American look forward to Trishuwa's return each year. These programs offer ancient ceremonies,
circles of healing, ritual with The Medicine Wheel and the Sacred Pipe.
She teaches an Earth-centered spiritual meditation practice at these programs as well as through her correspondence course, Ceremony as a Way of Life. Once a year Trishuwa offers a Vision Quest program in a different wilderness location. Her astrological combination of The Medicine Wheel and the Zodiac is unique, bringing two ancient Wheels together in her Earth Astrology chart readings. She is currently director of ceremonial training programs for The Church of Gaia and lives with her husband Stephen Buhner.

She has taught the ceremonial uses of herbs and plant medicines for many years at such places as the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanic Studies in Boulder, Colorado; Dry Creek Herb Farm in California; Brietenbush Herb Conference in Oregon, the International Herb Symposium outside Boston, MA. Green Nations Gathering and The New England Women's Herbal Conference. She continues to travel and teach nationally each year. Her work has been profiled in The New York Times, on "Good Morning American," and on "CNN."
